When Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out was released in 2015, it was immediately recognized as not only a colorful and entertaining piece of cinema, but an excellent guide to understanding the emotions that (who) battle for dominance in our psyches. “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden transformation into something entirely unexpected: brand new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety takes up residence… and it looks as if she’s not alone. Standouts in the voice cast are Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as the faint but ever-present voice of Joy. The talented voice cast also includes the (angry) Lewis Black, (melancholy) Phyllis Smith, (nervy) Tony Hale and the (ultra-snarky) Liza Lapira.

“Sparky, kaleidoscopic and boldly honest about the tougher side of growing up” – Phil de Semlyen, Time Out.
