One of the hits of this year’s New York Film Festival is getting a limited run at real world cinemas, including Cinestudio! Lost in Translation’s Oscar winner Sofia Coppola reteams with Bill Murray for a story about a New York author (Rashida Jones) who has marriage (and Daddy) problems. Noting a dip in her husband (Marlon Wayans)’s attentions, she asks her aging playboy dad for help. Murray is low-key hilarious doing stakeouts in a vintage Alfa Romeo, martini in hand; and introducing his school-age granddaughters to the joys of Breaking Bad. Movie history isn’t replete with a huge number of father/daughter stories, so it’s great that a new one by the offspring of Francis Ford Coppola is a funny, smart, and revealing triumph.

“A bit of a pre-pandemic valentine to New York City, and a reminder of the Big Apple’s pure joy. The comedy of the year!” Pete Hammond, Deadline.com.
