Position Title: Guest Film Programmer (Volunteer Position)
🎬 Call for Film Series Proposals: Cinestudio invites film lovers to become Guest Film Programmers! We’re looking for passionate curators to design unique series around a genre, director, or cultural theme. Selected programmers will introduce films, host at least one post-screening talkback, and help us engage new audiences in conversation.
While not all submissions will be selected, proposals that include potential group contacts to increase attendance or feature guest speakers for discussions will be given special consideration. Programming is dependent on schedule, booking availability, and film rental costs. Proposals remain valid for one year, and curators will be credited whenever their full series is presented.

About the Role: Cinestudio is seeking passionate film enthusiasts to design and curate unique film series for our community. This is a volunteer opportunity that offers the chance to share your cinematic vision, connect with audiences, and spark conversation through film.
What You'll Do
- Propose a curated film series (3-5 films) centered on a theme, genre, director, or cultural focus
- Provide a brief introduction before each screening in your series
- Lead at least one post-screening talkback or discussion during the run of your series
- Identify a target audience for your proposed program
- Submit your proposal to the Executive Director (info@cinestudio.org) for review and consideration
Selection Process
- Not all applicants will be selected; proposals will be evaluated based on creativity, audience appeal, and feasibility
- Applicants who can provide potential group contacts to help increase attendance and/or attract interesting film-related speakers for a talkback will receive stronger consideration
- Screenings are subject to programming schedule availability, theatrical booking availability, and film rental costs
- If changes need to be made to a proposed film title, the Film Programmer will be consulted before adjustments are finalized
- Submitted film series proposals will remain valid for one year; while Cinestudio may program individual films from a proposal, a selected series will not be presented as a whole unless the Film Programmer receives credit as the series curator
