In the mode of the classic Clueless, which transported Jane Austen’s Emma to Valley Girl Land, Easy A time-travels Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Scarlet Letter to a 21st century American high school . When a fresh faced Emma Stone invents a tale of having sex with a college boy to seem less of a nerd, a relglous student spreads the rumor faster than you can say “hypocritical fundamentalist.” Instead of backing down, Emma plants more tidbits in the rumor mill: she lies about with doing the nasty with her (shy, geeky or gay) male friends to boost their social capital. 93 min.
“The ghost of John Hughes smiles down on Easy A, thatgiddily pays tribute to his Holy Trinity of 80’s teen angst.” – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel. A Moonlight Movie screening.
