Saturday afternoon and cartoons (aka animated shorts) were a happy part of many Americans’ childhoods. Although these Oscar-nominated shorts are a bit mature for people under 17, the young at heart are welcome to enjoy these little gems. It kicks off with Robin Robin (Dan Ojari and Mikey Please); Boxballet (Anton Dyakov); Affairs of the Art (Joanna Quinn, Les Mills); and Bestia (Hugo Covarrubias and Tevo Díaz). The winning short, The Windshield Wiper (Alberto Mielgo and Leo Sanchez) is an inventive mix of hand painted backgrounds with keyframe-animated cg characters.
