Devotees of fashion, Paris, and veteran actress Lesley Manville (The Phantom Thread) are raving over the bittersweet comedy about an unassuming 1950’s London cleaning woman who follows her dream, no matter how impossible. When Mrs. Harris sees a couture Dior gown in one of her clients’ homes, she is transported by its beauty and determines to save for a trip to the City of Light, and (!) convince the famed House of Dior to create their magic for her. It’s not all pastries and romance, with a garbage strike and Dior’s frosty assistant (Isabelle Huppert of Story of Women) just a sample of the roadblocks along the way. But the self-confidence and the friends that Mrs. Harris discovers on her quest are worth more than any gold.
