Since 1933, when Lincoln Kirstein opened the School of American Ballet in Hartford, the capitol city has always been a hotspot for ballet. We at Cinestudio are thrilled that our series of the Bolshoi Ballet Live from Moscow has caught on with local balletomanes past, present – and future! This summer we invite you to the encore HD broadcast of the Bolshoi’s exquisite staging of the most loved Romantic ballet. Giselle opened in Paris in 1841, inspired by a Victor Hugo poem about a young peasant girl who dies of a broken heart after finding that her aristocratic love is betrothed. The eerie, supernatural Willis seek revenge by dancing her faithless lover to death.
