In celebration of Professor Sam Kassow’s 50 years of teaching at Trinity College, we invite you to a free screening of a documentary based on his book, Who Will Write Our History? Historian Emanuel Ringelblum’s resistance to the Nazi occupation (and destruction) of Warsaw has been brought to light as what Kassow calls “one of the most heroic stories of the Holocaust. Ringelblum’s form of resistance was to create a clandestine organization that collected a record of Jewish life in the Ghetto, from drawings to poems to diaries. Before Ringelblum’s murder in March 1944, he and his associates buried thousands of documents beneath the streets of Warsaw, in milk cans and tin boxes. Grossman’s film mixes documentary footage, narration, and re-enactments of a history that now, will never be forgotten.
