An understated, intelligent whodunit often catches audiences when they least expect it, changing into a nail-biting thriller of the highest order. Graham Moore, the British screenwriter of The Imitation Game, now takes to the director’s chair to work his magic. Mark Rylance (Don’t Look Up, Bridge of Spies) plays a creator of men’s exquisite bespoke clothes, who leaves London’s Savile Row for an intimate atelier in 1950s Chicago. Unfortunately, his exclusive clientele – and the best-dressed men about town – happen to be gangsters. The mysterious outfitter turns a blind eye to the source of their money, but it becomes harder when they try to lure him into the underworld – especially when he is trying to protect his young employee, Mabel (Zoey Deutch) – who has secrets of her own…

“The biggest surprise of “The Outfit” is also the happiest, which is that this small-scale, modestly budgeted feature film is one of the best acted movies of the season.” – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle.
