Although it hasn’t gotten the wide distribution in the States that it deserves, Honduras’ first official entry to the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film is a fascinating documentary on events that shaped the current state of the Americas. In 1842 Costa Rica, Francisco Morazán was serving as the Head of State of Costa Rica, attempting to unite the Central America in a Republic, not so unlike his neighbors to the north. But the forces against him – the Catholic Church and the wealthy elite- conspired with the army to overthrow his power.
