Assandria is the second film in Venice Comes to Cinestudio by Salvatore Mereu, who will join us for a talkback after the movie! Set in Sardinia, as is Bentu, it stars Corrado Giannetti as the owner of a hotel (formerly a farm) which has burned to the ground, killing his son. In the style of a classic mystery, members of the carabinieri and the young investigating magistrate try to piece together what happened. Beneath the surface, Mereu explores the tragedy of agricultural Sardinia trampled under the force of capitalist tourism.
